A Good News for Students : Apprenticeship Scheme in Pakistan

It is clear truth that the importance of skillful and trained labour force in today’s rapidly
 developed world is undeniable.  Scientific and industrial development is on the increase in every walk of life.  Only those nations of the world today are successful where industrial training is recognised along with scientific and technical education.  
To fulfill the need of industry, a training scheme called apprenticeship scheme is started in public and private sector organization in Pakistan.  Apprenticeship scheme  in PPTA, Pakistan Steel, KPT and Pakistan Navy are very famous among the students now a days.
For this purpose an ordinance was promulgated on 17 Oct 1962 named apprenticeship ordinance 1962.  In 1966 apprenticeship rules were enforced.   According to apprenticeship rules 1966, every Pakistan youth not more than 20 years old can take advantage from this scheme.  In this regard, minimum qualification as per the requirement of the trade has been set.  According to this statue every organization which falls under this ordinance is bound to advertise in national dailies for apprenticeship training inviting the education youth to participate.  The training period is of various duration ranging from six to three years.  The training period comprises of 25% theory and 75% practical education the great advantage of the scheme is the opportunity to work in a practical environment.  Normally companies and organizations offer training opportunities in the trades where the need skilled worker so that they may be employed subsequently.  Neither the organization nor the trainee is bound to join each other after completion of the training.

Educational Qualification:
Different educational levels of students are invited for the training.  Required Educational qualification may very from trade to trade.  Generally matriculate students are called for training.  Intermediate and diploma holders are also provided apprenticeship training in various organizations from public and private sector.

Organization offered apprenticeship training in Pakistan:
Several public and private sector organizations are providing skill training under apprenticeship scheme to the youth of our country.  According to the law, every that organization where five or more employee work, can provide training.  But apprenticeship training is not offered in every organization; only big industrial units arrange apprenticeship training.  The professional credibility of such organization is out of question and their trained youth are employed like hot cakes.  The training standard of the following organization are considered reliable.  These organizations provide apprenticeship training on regular basis.

It is almost settled that the present era is the era of skill and scientific improvement and only those nations will survive who will keep pace with the rapidly changing world.  In our part of the world the importance of apprenticeship boost further as we have to cover a long way on the front of science and technique.
